HaPea Cake

HaPea Cakes 

250g Dried marrowfat Peas
1 small onion
1tsp lemon juice
Handful of kale
Salt & pepper
1 egg

Polenta (quick cook) to dip the cakes in ready for slow frying 


  • Soak the dried Peas for 12 hours
  • Place the Peas in a pan, bring to the boil and then simmer for 20-30mins until softened
  • Place the Peas, onion, kale, egg and lemon juice in a food processor
  • Season with salt and pepper
  • Process until combined
  • Using your hands or a burger press, shape the mixture into cakes
  • Allow to rest in the fridge for an hour
  • Coat each cake in polenta
  • In a frying pan add some oil, on a low heat add the pea cakes
  • Fry the cakes for ~8 minutes, turning every so often
